What I desire

I have some projects that I need to finish on this blog, and I apologize for the leave of absence. I’ve been busing sorting my life, trying to find a job to pay the bills, so I can go back to creating and updating and writing again.

In the meantime, I wrote this today and posted it to facebook, but I’ll post the revised version here:

Inspired by this comic: http://zenpencils.com/comic/98-alan-watts-what-if-money-was-no-object/

What do I desire?

To write, to create, to use my mind,
to have my life and work matter to someone.
I don’t want to do work that never utilizes my brain,
my talents, or my creativity.
I don’t want to be another drone
in the clogs of a broken down system
that putters forward, sputtering to find its footing as the top weighs it down,
and the bottom no longer
has the supports necessary to hold the weight.

I don’t want to fall between the cracks,
lost in the mire of a forgotten war
on those who do not have it all,
who haven’t the wealth, the power, the influence,
to fight in a war they cannot see.
A war on those who have next to nothing
and even that is disputed and taken,
their very lives often ridiculed,
a war on those who cannot hope for a future
that is bright and solid and reachable.

I want to live in a world
where our future is reachable, is bright,
where we are not forgotten,
where everyone is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
Where the weight of the world is properly balanced —
no longer top heavy and crushing those beneath the spires
of wealth many will never touch,
more balanced,
giving all people a chance
to live comfortably
to live —
to live their hopes and dreams
to live and not have to fear anymore.

That’s what I desire.

Edit as of Sept. 29. Recording of it read out loud:

By Aibird

Open the door, step inside. Here you find a forest, teeming with animals and birds, which sweeps up the sides of snow-capped mountains. Here in the small pocket of beauty, one finds the essence of my soul. A writer at heart, I delve deep into the finer details of humanity's spirit, and seek to share with others what gems I uncover. I find life exciting and full of interesting surprises, and despite the great pain that often confronts me, I persevere with the joy in my heart still bubbling, and the light of my soul still aflame. There is a time and a place to introspect one's self, but often enough it is best to not look back in regret, but leap forward in the present toward the achievement of one's deepest dreams. I am a wanderer. An explorer. One place cannot contain me for long, but to my friends and family, I remain loyal, for love is not bound by time nor place. Once cultivated and nourished continuously, it binds people together on a journey through the unknown reaches of life.

  1. Yes. And I daily pray and send good thoughts and prayers to all those who have influence in these arenas. Too old to do much else.
