National Poetry Month: Day 14

I don’t have much to say this week. I’m quite a bit emotionally exhausted by events of late, but I did write this, so enjoy:

Look in my eyes —
say to my face.
is your words lies?
you’re truly safe?
What do you mean —
when you paint this
sweet, serene scene?
what is the twist?

I want to believe,
trust what you say.
But should I leave?
Or should I stay?

Over the years —
it makes me fear
you aren’t able
to do what you
claim you can do.
